Calphalon 15-Inch Round End-Grain Cutting Board

Image
Excellent Cutting Board !! I don’t usually write reveiws, but I was so happy with this purchase that I wanted to write one for this item. If you are looking for a wood cutting board this is an excellent one to buy. I love the round shape and it is an awesome quality. It has rubber feet on the bottom that keep it up off the counter and the handles work great for lifting it. It has such a pretty wood grain to it that it looks nice sitting on the counter. A very solid board that will last forever. Shipping was fast even with the super saver option! A great shopping experience! great buy love the board ….. cleaning can be a problem though …it stains easily Click to Editorial Reviews

Calphalon One Nonstick 7-Quart Chef’s Casserole with Glass Lid

Brilliant cooking performance I’ve had my casserole for several weeks now and can say without reservation that it’s the best large pot I’ve ever used. I’ve used it for everything from roasting vegetables in the oven to preparing meat sauces on the range without any problems. The heating characteristics are fantastic — it heats quickly but quite evenly all across the base without discernible hot spots, and as the indications suggest, it transfers more heat than conventional pots and doesn’t require quite as much gas to get up to temperature. As is often mentioned on reviews of other Calphalon One cookware, the surface isn’t quite “non-stick” in the sense it would be with a Teflon coating; instead, it’s very-low-stick, and once your meats have seared they’ll release from the surface, often requiring only their natural oils for lubrication. Cleaning is extremely easy, though you certainly should take to heart the manufacturer’s warning against using a dishwasher — the detergents actually...

Calphalon Katana Stainless-Steel 6-Inch Chef’s Knife

cheesy name for a good knife This knife feels great in the hand and arrives very sharp. I am not sure what is the point of the layers of Damascene. The last half inch before the edge is presumably is where the action takes place and it is good, old-fashioned clear stainless. The Damascene pattern is certainly attractive. Despite report you may have heard to the contrary, the edge of the blade is not straight like a Santoku knife. It curves, more-or-less the same amount as a Henckels chef knife. Having said that, I guess if you are a die-hard chopper you might prefer a big belly Wusthof. The bolster is very unobtrusive, which I like. The handle is comfortable and tilts up a little, sort of like the Global knives but less extreme. Did I already say this knife arrives very sharp. Right out of the box you can cut through the stem of a banana almost as if it was celery. Don’t let your 8-year old use this knife for cutting frozen bagels All-in-all it is a… My First Katana I found this knif...

Calphalon LX Series Cutlery 8″ Bread Knife

Image
Well Made and Very Sharp. I love this knife, it is dangerously sharp, made from German steele. The weight and balance of the knife are professional feeling. Elegant and effective I purchased this knife after falling in love with the LX series, having stumbled across the 8″ Chef’s Knife in a Homegoods. The Bread Knife is of the same caliber as the rest of the knives I’ve purchased from the set; sharp, hefty without being ungainly, and elegant without sacrificing comfort. That said, I bought this much more cheaply, from a different Seller; I am not sure if I would pay the current ~$50 for the knife, given how relatively infrequently I use it, and the nature of serration somewhat mitigating the need for a very sharp knife. Still, it is a beautiful bit of steel, and certainly one that will last for some time. Click to Editorial Reviews

Calphalon Katana Stainless-Steel 7-Inch Nakiri Knife

Great looks and performance I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. The meals I prepare are complicated and often include a good amount of sliced vegetables. I have two Santoku knives and have found myself using this knife more and more for my preparation work. PROS: - Great feel, perfect balance - Sharp easily maintained edge - Heavy enough for the big stuff (squash and pumpkins) - Balanced enough for the small stuff (garlic and ginger mincing) - Works great whether you hold the handle (like I do) or the blade (like they show you in some cooking schools). If you are a blade holder, then you’ll love the feel of this thick backed `clever’ like knife! PROS/CONS: - You have to hand wash and dry this knife immediately after use, but you should be used to this with any high end knife (wouldn’t want to ruin your edge in the dishwasher…) - It’s a bit expensive, but then, it’s very well made - Thicker then a… Excellent knife, series I love every knife in this series, and this one is no differen...

Awesome Knife This is the GO-TO knife in the block, bought it for my wife and she uses it literally every day. We have the larger Katana too which she also uses but the smaller version is just so much more handy. Great Knife Super sharp…. very pretty….great balance…. and oh such fun to use. It makes chopping, dicing, and slicing quick and easy. Click to Editorial Reviews

Calphalon Katana Cutlery 7-Inch Nakiri Knife

Great Everyday Knife My wife bought me this knife a few weeks ago and gave it to me for an early Christmas present. I use it everyday as MY ONLY KNIFE at work. It had held up as good as the day that I bought it. The “China” printed on the side opposite of the Katana lable did throw me off at first but this is true Japanese steel. I breakdown tenderloins, fish, chicken, calimari, and all various vegetables. Potatoes don’t stick, cheese doesn’t stick. I’d still pick a damascus Shun, Ginsu, or Kyocera over this, but the whole set is beautiful and affordable. I would recommend this for ANY CHEF. The slicer is the best sushi knife I’ve ever worked with. Great Buy great value! My name is Dave, i have been a professional Chef for the past fifteen years, in that time i have used about any high end knives you can think of. This Katana series really does keep pace with the best of them. I spend six to ten hours a day cooking or prepping food in a high end restaurant so this knife has seen some ...

Calphalon Contemporary Cutlery Carving Set – 8″ Slicer and Carving Fork

Image
Wide blade not the best for slicing, box cheap for 4 piece set. I own this in it 4 piece set incarnation (which is the fork, knife, knife rest, and box) Calphalon Contemporary Cutlery 4-Piece Carving Set which appears to be out of stock, which is a good thing. The wood of the box is fine, but the liner is trashy plastic which will not let go of the knives, so do not wait for that version to come back in stock. As for this version, although the knife seemed sharp enough, it did not do a good job cutting through flank steak and pork roast. Once the knife had pierced the surface, it did well enough, but still was more work than expected. Several of my kitchen knives, both cheaper and more expensive (victorinox and shun) did a better job at carving than this carving dedicated knife. It may have to do with the rather wide angle of the knife compare to asian style blades and even some other german knives, as I feel this knife may be too strong for its own good. I replaced it… Wonderful Wed...

Calphalon Contemporary 2-Piece Bread Knife Set

Image
Great bread knives! Got these for our wedding and love them so much I got them for my in-laws as well. Great serrated knives! Would recommend 100% Quality As always Calaphon is known for their quality products. Very nice knives and make cutting bread a snap. I recommend for anyone on a budget. Nice cheap bread knife I think that while you need a bread knife, a super nice bread knife is a bit of overkill. This one gets the job done. Its a bit heavy and the blade is a bit thick (If I’m being picky) but its worked great for over a year. The tomato knife is a nice addition but probably the knife I use least in my rack. The labeling on the butt is a nice feature for people that don’t know your knives by sight. Click to Editorial Reviews
