Wusthof 6-Slot Beechwood and Aluminum Knife Storage Block

This block is beautiful and I am happy with it. The only problem is that it is not very versatile. You are limited to an 8 inch chef’s knife and a thin 8 or 9 inch knife on top (I have the chef’s knife and a 9″ carving knife). Two thin 6 or 8 inch knifes in the middle (I have a 6″ carving knife and an 8″ bread knife). On the bottom, only two small knifes no bigger than 5 inches will fit (I have a 3 1/2″ paring and a 5″ serrated utility). I would have liked to have put a 6″ boning knife in bottom row instead of the utility knife but it would not fit due to its thick bolster and the block’s narrow slots.

Incredible Knife, Just Too Short for my Tomato I am a big fan of Global knives. They are wonderfully balanced, expertly sharp, and heaven to hold. This knife is no exception. I have quite a collection, myself. However, to call this knife a "Tomato Knife," at only 3inches long, is nuts in my book; that is, of course, unless you’re talking about cherry tomatoes! The knife does glide through the skin effortlessly, as another has said, and the meat of the tomato is certainly not a challenge for the knife, either.
