Fischer Bargoin French De Luxe Ham Holder with Marble Tray



Wonderful experience with Hidden Treasure Emporium

I cure my own prosciutto-style ham, and have been looking for one of these ham holders for a long time. Recently, I visited Paris’ oldest kitchen supply store, Dehillerin, and saw this model for sale for 210 Euro. I like this style more than the others I’ve seen, so checked the price on Amazon to see if the 210 Euro price was a fair one. I found that Hidden Treasure Emporium had a few left for sale of this exact model for far, far less. I ordered it. It was shipped promptly, arrived in good shape, and will be perfect for what I need. The marble base is heavy, and the stainless steel grips very solid. The wood handles are well-secured to the grips by rivets. Nicely made. Moreover, when I posed a question about pricing to the HTE folks, they responded very quickly to address my question. All told, I paid well less than half of the usual retail for this product.

Joyce Chen 50-0052, Chinese Kitchen Knife, 8-Inch

Bought as gift I bought this Joyce Chen Chinese Kitchen Knife (clever) after owning one for the past 11 years as a wedding gift. Over the years I have used the one I own for everything from slicing tomatoes to separating rib steaks. I know it is not recommeded for bone cutting/breaking but it has worked well and resharpened well. I am very satisfied with the one I own. The only downside is with the wooden handle, like all wood it takes some extra care. If you let it dry out it will crack but with a little TLC and mineral oil it is okay. A decent knife, especially for the price. I bought this knife about 5 years ago and, along with a paring knife, it’s the only knife that I use. It’s not fancy, it’s not expensive, but it gets the job done. I’m almost embarrassed to admit, but I’ve done nothing but hone it until I bought a whetstone a few weeks ago.
